Rev. Cherisna Jean-Marie is the Director of the Racial Justice Initiative at the Scarritt Bennett Center. Rev. Jean-Marie (also known as “Pastor J”) is Haitian-American born and was raised in Newark, NJ. She holds a BA in Public Communications, as well as a Masters of Divinity. She served Associate Pastor of New Covenant Christian Church in Nashville, TN, before arriving at SBC. Her vision is to lead the SBC to become a leading voice that proclaims love, justice, and hospitality.
